Where did it all go wrong?
Football    Posted by Steve May 5th, 2008Well, that’s it then. Another season is pretty much over and the Gunners Silverware cupboard is once again looking pretty sparse. Not so long ago they were flying high with a good lead and looking like the team to beat.
Looking back there was one defining moment where it all came unraveled. Saturday 23rd February 2008 at around 3.03 pm. That was the moment a bone shattering tackle on Eduardo by Taylor of Birmingham freaked out the team to such an extent that including that game, Arsenal picked up just 8 points from the next 21 available. With Man U and Chelski only a few points back, you just cannot give up that kind numbers. As a young team, it was a shock to all around and you could see on the Arsenal players faces that they were shaken. Confidence is everything when you are chasing a title and they just seemed to lose it.
There are a few other factors which I think may have contributed to this seasons poor run in. The lack of a fit Van Persie has been obvious all season. Sure, Bendtner and Walcott will come good but they are not quite in RVP’s class as yet. Rosicky’s constant on-off fitness has also been a blow. Thank heavens for Fabregas and Flamini who held the midfield together as a near constant.
Speaking of Flamini, what is he thinking. Off to AC Milan as a free agent. I think I saw him called “FlaMoney” on one blog. At best, he will be a bit part player at Milan. He’ll drop down the pecking order for starts both at Milan and more than likely, France. He will regret leaving…. they all do…. one day.
So, to the future. Our young guns will go for it again next year. A year stronger and a year wiser. We need to strengthen. In the keeping department we should be OK. We need to bring in a world class central defender. Toure and Gallas are OK but Senderos has been found wanting on more than one occasion. Flamini will be missed but I am sure that one of several youngsters could fill the gap. Denilson looks a good prospect but maybe he needs to toughen up a bit.
No doubt Carlos Vela will be called back from his loan at Osasuna. He looks a great player and one for the future.
Maybe we also need one more proven goalscorer. I know the name of David Villa has been thrown into the ring but I think he’ll probably go to Madrid. Lets hope Eduardo recovers well and is available early in the new season.
One last thought. This season has gone very quickly, but I have still missed Challenge Lawro. Come on BBC, flash some of that outrageous license fee and get it up and running again “Bigger and Better” as promised.
May 6th, 2008 at 3:53 am
All things going well, Arsenal will only end up 4 points behind ManYoo and Chelski. And from where they were last year that’s a big improvement. Third and a larger points tally is good news compared to struggling to fourth last year. At the start of the season we might have thought that would be a good way to end the season. It’s only having been ahead for a greater part of the season that third is now disappointing.
There was a lot of bad luck too. The Eduardo injury, the penalty that clearly wasn’t in the same match, there was an Adebayor goal disallowed that was clearly on-side (I think that match stayed 0-0) so we were robbed of some points. Usually these things balance out, but not so for the Arse.

I have not had a cig in since I was divorced. The toughest part about stopping smoking will be 1st week. Fortunetly for me this part didn’t last long and things got better as time went on as a result of the electronic cigarette. Please do not stop trying. Please be strong and you should certainly be smoke-free forever.
August 31st, 2010 at 7:47 am
I now know quitting smoking is actually very hard. I began tobacco while I was a kid. It had been the hugest wrong move I’ve made. At present 20 years later and I have bronchitis. I bought each one of the stop smoking products however nothing at all helped me. My last try is definitely the electric cigarettes in the end.
August 31st, 2010 at 8:14 am
I started out tobacco while I was really young. That appears to be the biggest mistake of my life. Today I’m much older and I’ve got coronary artery disease. Whilst looking to quit smoking, I came across the e cig and will try it out. With any luck, it is going to help me with this crappy habit.

I haven’t had a smoke in for many years. The worst thing concerning kicking the habit is definitely the first 1 to 2 weeks. Thankfully that those effects didn’t last long and stuff got better daily thanks to the electric cigarette. Do not give up. Merely persevere and you will likely be successful permanently.
September 1st, 2010 at 2:45 pm
I stopped cold turkey over the weekend and its starting to make me feel crappy today. My mate tells me I will not keep going but I’m so confident on this I can’t fail. This morning I began getting pain in my gut and I truly want to have a cig. I will never give in given that I am making this effort for our kids. I am lucky to have the electric cigarette. It is a big bonus to me.
September 1st, 2010 at 3:14 pm
I quit smoking over the weekend and it really is beginning to hit me now. My husband keeps telling me I probably will not keep going however I am so serious about it I will. Today I started having pain in my lower stomach and I genuinely would like a cigarette. I can’t give in given that I’m stopping for our young children. I am blessed to have the e cigarette. It is often very useful if you ask me.
September 1st, 2010 at 4:02 pm
I wasted money on cigarettes for a while and giving them up ended up being literally impossible. I experimented with each of the stop smoking gadgets yet not anything helped me. Then I found the e cigarettes. The smokeless cigarette utilizes a nicotine fluid which is made of nothing but nicotine. Basically no poisons at all. They’ve literally improved my life.

- all from the same account with our award-winning PureDeal platform. Learn how to spread bet with IG Index through our free TradeSense education programme, or view one of our free online semiIn my last post I spoke about the possibility of opening a second account. This may not be as important to you when you are just starting out and have a low level of capital but do keep it in mind. There are a couple of reasons why you should consider it if you are to take your trading seriously. The most successful traders out there have a number of accounts. The first reason for this is the ability to get the best quote. Financial Spread Betting is hard. Anything you can use to your advantage is great, even a half a point on the spread will make a difference.By having more than one Financial Spread Betting account you will be able to read multiple quotes at the same time (with a little practice!). You will then be able to trade of the better one.It will take time for you to reach this level but if you can trade this way then you will be ahead of a lot of traders. The second reason is contingency. These days spread betting trading platforms are a lot more stable. They don’t hang as much and they are very rarely down. The spread betting companies put a lot of time and money into making sure that this doesn’t happen. But…What if it does? What if the financial markets are going crazy and you want to trade? When you log on…whoops…you can’t log on.
September 5th, 2010 at 2:02 pm
If the underlying share price moved disastrously against you overnight, for example, you might lose the whole of your investment if you had bought the share. However, if you had placed a bet on the share and you had imposed a guaranteed stop-loss limit, you would limit your loss to a predetermined amount. A stop-loss is exactly what it is called - a limit to the amount you might lose. On the other hand, there is no limit to the amount you might win. Financial spread betting provides a simple, tax-free* way to profit from rising and falling prices on a range of different markets. As a world leader in spread betting for 35 years, IG Index is the UK’s largest and longest running financial spread betting company. With IG Index you can take positions on forex pairs, global stock indices, over 7000 shares, commodities, binary bets and more Financial Spread Betting is the most efficient leverage tool for traders, in the financial markets. Traders have the opportunity to trade with no real ownership in the market. Explore the Financial Spread Betting markets and learn how to trade successfully. As current or future investors you are well aware of the fact that in order to trade in the financial market you need to own or be a part of it as far as investment of money goes. With Financial Spread Betting the story is different. This is your chance to get involved in the stock market or in any other financial market with a value such as gas, oil gold and so on, without actually being invested. This is not only convenient financially but also requires less effort as far as bureaucracy goes.So what is Financial Spread Betting anyway?Financial Spread betting enables the trader to lay an over / under bet with the ability to minimize the risks and optimize the profits by ending the bet as soon as it goes the other way around from the bet (stop loss) or getting out while you are ahead.Financial Spread Betting is available for various products including shares, currency exchange, commodities and just about anything with a value. The spread is the difference between the bid and the offer price for example taking the apple stock and placing a bet that it will rise (go long) and it indeed rise, then you will get your bet times the number of points it went up.Financial spread betting is gaining popularity in Europe and mainly in the UK. Even though it existed for years, it is now becoming available online and much like other new trends online, many companies are seeking the opportunity of catching customers by offering lucrative incentive offers such as welcome bonus.

I haven’t had a smoke in 6 years. The ugliest part concerning stopping is definitely the initial 1 to 2 weeks. Fortunetly that these effects were short lived and stuff improved day-to-day thanks to the e-cigarettes. Never toss in the towel. Just keep going with it and you can have great results forever.

I stopped cold turkey 3 days ago and its beginning to affect me right now. My wife tells me I will not be able to do it however I am so determined about it I can. recently I started getting painful sensations in my tummy and I absolutely would like a cigarette. I cannot give in given that I am quitting for my child. I’m lucky to have the smokeless cigarettes. It is a big bonus in my opinion.

Financial spread betting is a leveraged tool that gives investors the opportunity to trade the financial markets without ever taking physical ownership of the underlying instrument. This means that the trader/investor can speculate in the direction of any financial instrument, whether it is specific shares, currencies, commodities or indices without ever owning them. In the financial markets there are standard contract sizes. For example for the FTSE 100 index contract the standard market size is £10. With financial spread betting the investor nominates his own stake size, for example £2 per point. The bet is settled as the difference between the purchase and the sell price.Financial Spreads is appealing to ever greater numbers of investors for several reasons, not least of which is the absence of capital gains tax on profits (unlike conventional share trading, where CGT applies to trading gains in many countries), and the lack of stamp duty on transactions (most interesting in the UK; strictly speaking, the transaction is a bet, rather than an investment – hence the name.) However, by its very nature financial spread betting is more risky than traditional, fixed odds betting, or conventional traditional share trading, where participants are usually a little more protected. If you judge wrong, you are likely to lose a great deal in the absence of a stop loss and any losses made on a spread bet cannot be offset against capital gains on ordinary investments. The costs associated with financial spread betting are included in the spread (the difference between the bid and the offer price). Therefore the wider the spread, the more you pay to trade. So when considering a company to spread bet always compare the spread. The good news about the spreads is that these are generally getting tighter due to increased competition and explosive growth as investors are beginning to realise the advantages of financial spread betting; thus making the system more efficient. Many people think that financial sprad betting is too risky. Subconsciously, they feel that investing in shares is ethically acceptable whereas betting has down market connotations and morally reprehensible. That is a pity, because the truth is quite different. You buy a share because you believe that the price will rise and you will make a profit. You bet on a share price for exactly the same reason. The only practical difference between buying a share, and betting on the movement of the share price is that you need much more ready cash to buy the share. The costs of buying a share are much greater than placing a bet.Open a GFT AccountIf the underlying share price moved disastrously against you overnight, for example, you might los
